Statement of the Executive Committee of Landsmót

At the meeting on May 7th.

At a meeting of the Executive Committee of Landsmót held in Skagafjörður on May 7th with the veterinarian of horse welfare, the decision was made to keep the preparation of Landsmót fully ongoing, despite the infectious cough that has been spreading out among the horses in the country.

The preliminary breeding shows now taking place all over the country will continue as scheduled. If needed, additional breeding shows will be organized, but only for those horses that have been unable to attend before, due to sickness.

According to regulations of LH, the Icelandic Equestrian Association, paragraph 6.5., the riding clubs have an authorization to organize two qualifications for Landsmót.

The riding clubs are encouraged, if necessary, to make a use of this regulation, in order to enable as many riders/horses as possible to get the chance to attend Landsmót.

Horse owners are encouraged to keep the well-being of their horses in mind and refrain from attending breeding shows and qualifications with sick horses.
