A warm welcome to the Icelandic Horse History Centre at Hólar!

Take the opportunity to visit the Icelandic Horse History Centre, located just a 10-minute walk from the Landsmót grounds.

Discover the fascinating history and origins of the Icelandic horse and explore our new exhibitions on coat colour genetics, the international WorldFengur database, the worldwide spread of the Icelandic horse, and its importance in sport, breeding, and Icelandic culture.

The museum offers an enjoyable experience for the whole family and provides fascinating insights into both the history and the present-day role of the Icelandic horse.

Today and tomorrow, the museum is open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with last admission at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday and Saturday, we are open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

During Landsmót, we also offer a Happy Hour admission until 3:00 p.m.for only ISK 1,000.
