Draft program for LM 2026

The first draft of the program for the National Icelandic Horse Competition
(Landsmót hestamanna), which will take place at Hólar in the summer of 2026,
has been published.

The event will begin on Sunday, July 5th, with the preliminary competition for
the children’s class on the Gæðingakeppni track. On the breeding track the 4-
year-old mares will start. The event will conclude on Saturday evening, July
11th, with a ceremony.

At the last LH assembly, it was approved that the A-class „A-Flokkur“ for
young riders would be a show discipline at Landsmót, and the decision has
been made to offer this discipline at the upcoming Landsmót, along with the B-
class „B-Flokkur“ for amateurs, which will also be included as a show
discipline.

Riding clubs are requested to include the A-class for young riders and the B-
class for amateurs in their qualification events in order to have eligible
representatives in these classes at the upcoming Landsmót.
The main rules regarding participants in the B-class for amateurs are as
follows:
The rider may NOT have competed in the top division (meistaraflokkur)
during the competition year.
– Registered in the B-class for amateurs in their club’s qualification event.
– Follows the age requirement for the adult division (22 years and older).
– All clubs may send 1 representative.
– Member clubs that are allowed to send more than one representative in the traditional division may send half as many in the amateur division (1 competitor for every 250 members, etc.)

More information about the side program, entertainment program, and other
details will be published later.
