Getting ready for Landsmót at Hólar next summer

The preparations for Landsmót 2026 at Hólar are in full swing. Last week, the organizing committee met at Hólar with representatives from Hólar University and the LH construction committee to look over the improvements that have been made to the competition grounds this summer.

It is safe to say that the area is looking good and things are shaping up nicely for Landsmót 2026. A brand-new 250m warm-up track has been built, along with a new access route that connects directly to the main track. This ensures a smooth flow of the competition and excellent conditions for riders. A new easily accessible handicapped parking has been added, with a good view of the events. On top of that, a new surface has been laid on all the tracks, and various smaller upgrades have been made.

Work has also started on improving the buildings and surroundings. This will continue next spring, together with upgrades to the paddocks by the stables. Roadwork leading up to Hólar begins this week, so by the time Landsmót takes place, all facilities for horses, riders and guests will be in top notch.

The teamwork has been great – a joint effort from Hólar University, the municipality of Skagafjörður, local businesses and the riding club Skagfirðingur is going well.
