The country-pop band Klaufar is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The band will perform at Landsmót hestamanna at Hólar in Hjaltadalur on Friday, July 10, and later this autumn will mark the milestone with a special anniversary concert at Bæjarbíó in Hafnarfjörður on Friday, September 11.
Over the past twenty years, Klaufar has released three albums and performed regularly throughout Iceland to enthusiastic audiences. The band initially focused on popular cover songs but in recent years has increasingly concentrated on creating original, high-quality country-pop music.
Many of their songs have become popular, including Annar maður (“Another Man”), Búkalú, Ást og áfengi (“Love and Alcohol”), and Lífið er ferlega flókið (“Life Is Incredibly Complicated”). As part of their anniversary celebrations, Klaufar will release several new songs this year. Their latest single, Huggun harmi gegn (“Comfort Against Sorrow”), is already receiving airplay on radio stations across the country and has been very well received.
The band is looking forward to performing for horse enthusiasts and other guests this summer and autumn, promising a great atmosphere, excellent music, and reminding everyone that hats are welcome.
Klaufar's members are Guðmundur A. Árnason (vocals and guitar), Sigurgeir Sigmundsson (guitar), Birgir Nielsen (drums), and Friðrik Sturluson (bass).
