Þráinn frá Flagbjarnarholti Awarded the Sleipnir Trophy

Þórarinn Eymundsson is the rider of Þráinn. Standing beside them are the breeders and owners, Halla Tómasdóttir, President of Iceland, Ólafur Þórisson, Chairman of the Icelandic Horse Farmers' Association, and Trausti Hjálmarsson, Chairman of the Farmers Association of Iceland.

Þráinn frá Flagbjarnarholti was the highest-ranked stallion to receive the Honorary Prize for Offspring at Landsmót Hestamanna 2026, earning the prestigious Sleipnir Trophy. He was accompanied into the arena by an impressive group of offspring.

During the award ceremony, Þráinn's breeders, Jaap Groven and Yvonne Groven, together with their fellow owners in Þráinsskjöldur, accepted the Sleipnir Trophy, which is presented to the stallion that ranks first at Landsmót among those awarded the Honorary Prize for Offspring.

The Sleipnir Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards in Icelandic horse breeding and is widely regarded as the highest honour a breeding stallion can receive.
